Andy Beal: Success on Both Sides of the Pond

Andy Beal is from Britain, but it's hard to tell from his accent-part
British and part Southern United States, Andy describes it as "somewhere
over the Mid-Atlantic trying to figure out which way to go."
Today, Andy lives in North Carolina-where he's one of the world's
most respected online marketing consultants.
Before coming to the U.S., Andy worked as a paralegal, mortgage
broker, and financial planner. He always had an interest in computers,
however-and when he moved to the U.S., he also moved into Internet
marketing. He considered it a natural fit.
Andy is one of the world's foremost experts on blogging for profit.
He first became aware of blogging in 2003. Unlike many who saw it
as simply a hobby, Andy saw in blogging the potential for a powerful
marketing tool. He also believed that blogs could be used effectively
for better in-house communication, enhanced company visibility,
new business generation, and client-company relationship maintenance.
In July 2003, when he started his first marketing blog, the blog
search engine Technorati estimated that there were only about 7,000
company blogs online. That year, MarketingSherpa named Andy's marketing
blog the best on the web.
Today, there are millions of corporate blogs, and Andy
Beal is an industry leader. He works as a consultant, educating
corporate clients on how to break into the blogosphere. He also
consults on search engine optimization and other facets of online
marketing. He believes that in ten years, blogs will essentially
replace websites as the foremost online communication method.
In 2005, Andy helped found Fortune Interactive, a company that
works with Fortune 1,000 businesses to craft and implement search
and blog marketing strategies. When it began, this company was unique
in the industry, because it used both traditional advertising and
public relations techniques and search marketing strategy. Today,
Andy consults independently and no longer runs Fortune Interactive-but
it continues to be a groundbreaker in the industry. So has Andy-as
a consultant, he has worked with quite a few high-profile companies,
including CitiFinancial, Motorola, Quicken Loans, Lowes, Smarter.com,
NBC, and DeWALT.
Andy has been published all over the world in online journals such
as Search Engine Watch, Pandia, Web Pro News, and Search Engine
Guide. He's also been interviewed on NPR and CNBC, and has been
featured in The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. He
can often be found speaking at search engine strategies conferences
around the globe.
