Bill Slawski: SEO By the Sea

Bill Slawski spent his early years at the Jersey Shore in the U.S.,
fishing, crabbing, and exploring New Jersey's numerous bays and
inlets. It's no wonder he calls his blog and search marketing company
"SEO
By the Sea." During his last year of high school, he was
torn between studying English or oceanography in college. He applied
only to schools with oceanography departments, and wound up going
to the University of Delaware-and majoring in English.
Since then and before becoming a search engine expert, Bill had
several jobs. He worked his way through college as a chef, enjoying
the creativity offered by the job, and later worked in the Superior
Court of Delaware, where he once rescued a Capitol police officer
and a county sheriff from a felon who was trying to escape. According
to his story, he was coming back from a break and heard cries for
help from a jury room. Bill entered to see the sheriff bent over
in pain from a kick to the groin. The police officer had wrestled
the felon to the ground, but was having trouble cuffing him.
Bill had taken some programming classes in high school-most of
which involved feeding ticker tape into a microcomputer. However,
he didn't really get interested in the tech industry until he went
to law school. While researching an in-depth paper, he became fascinated
by LexisNexis. While writing a paper entitled "Antarctica as
a Global Commons," he began to think of the Internet as the
real global commons. A year later, a few friends taught him how
to build a PC, and when those two friends went into business together,
Bill built their website as a return favor.
By then, Bill was working for the State of Delaware Superior Court,
first in a legal position and then in a technical one. He prepared
the court for the Y2K virus, brought livetime transcription to the
courtroom, and set up case management software to improve the court's
operations. During this time, he continued to read all he could
about search marketing.
After a while, a friend of Bill's offered him a job at his firm
as a search marketing specialist. He said no at first-then, a few
months later, his friend contacted him again. This time, Bill went
on the interview and got the job. He only worked at the SEO company
for a few months before deciding to start his own. Today, Bill is
known for his writing ability as well as his knowledge of search
marketing tactics. SEO By the Sea is both the name of Bill's search
marketing company and his blog-you can find both at the same website.
