Joseph Morin: Search Marketing’s Private

Joseph Morin was always interested in research. In his pre-SEO life, he was a corporate private investigator. But he left that career with the tech boom, and in 1998, he helped found a supply-chain software company. He was assigned an unusual task for the time—promoting the business online and gathering qualified leads from the Internet. He dove right in, learning early search engine optimization by trial and error.
In 2000, Joseph began his own company, Boost Search Marketing, to market SEO services to other businesses. His company also focuses on branding and strategy, competitive intelligence, conversion analysis, lead generation, and business modeling services. He currently consults with many top-tier companies, including Enterprise Rent-A-Car, MGM Mirage, Austin Ventures, Azure Capital, World Publications, and more.
Joseph travels all over the world attending and speaking at conferences, as well as consulting with international corporations about search marketing strategy. He loves to travel, and markets his willingness to go overseas to perform consultations as one of his service’s selling points.

Recently, Joseph has been promoting the cause of “J.P.”—a man who’s trying to get an ad spot on the Superbowl to propose to his girlfriend. He saw a post about it in J.P.’s blog, and became intrigued with the idea—so intrigued that he sent J.P. a comprehensive web marketing plan, using every resource at his disposal ordinarily used for international corporations. The plan resulted in huge exposure—including radio and television stations across the country and in several other countries as well, and offers of sponsorship from seven diamond ring retailers.
Joseph keeps a high profile in the search marketing world, moderating SearchEngineWatch’s forums “In-House and Corporate SEM” and “SEM-Related Organizations & Events,” speaks at Search Engine Strategies conferences, and works as the marketing director for WebMasterWorld’s PubCon conference series. He has also served as an expert witness in courtroom testimony and depositions for legal cases involving search engines—including a trial by federal jury.
When he’s not consulting with big-name corporations, globetrotting, running SEO conferences, or moderating, Joseph can be found in Irvine, California.
